Novart Gallery presents the graphic language of today’s designers — and looks at the poster as a work of art in its own right, one that belongs in the rooms we live in.

Most posters are made to be seen in passing. These were made for the other kind of wall — above a sofa, along a hallway, next to the kettle.

This year our international open call had one theme: the interior poster.

We asked designers to take the poster beyond advertising and the exhibition hall, and to show how it can live as a work of art in everyday life — part of a room, changing how the space feels, setting its mood and saying something about the person who lives there.

151 posters came in from 31 designers in 18 countries. All 31 are in the exhibition, each with a graphic language and an approach of their own.

Interior Posters brings printed, digital and animated posters into one room, to show how wide contemporary graphic design has become — and to look again at where a poster can hang.

Novart Gallery is an international platform for contemporary graphic designers. Through open calls and curated exhibitions we help new names and established professionals find their audience. The team behind it has been making exhibitions and poster projects since 2021, as part of the Formula art group and Poster Every Day.
